CuteCircuit new haute coutre Aurora LED dress adorns Swarovski
Baku, May 12 (AzerTAc). It was in 2009 that Cute Circuit, the London based fashion designers, announced their arrival on the world stage with `Galaxy Dress` - a dress embroidered with 24,000 full color LEDs. It was touted as the largest wearable display in the world. But they are back once again and this time they have the `Aurora Dress`.
It is a spectacular example of haute couture which has been designed exclusively for an opera even hosted by Breitling, a world renowned Swiss watch company. The geeky dress is also given a luxury feel with the use of hundreds of Swarovski crystals transforming the evening gown completely into a stunning silhouette which looks elegant and dazzling at the same time. The Aurora dress is made from a combination of silk taffeta and chiffon. The LED technology creates a number of different patterns on the dress which ranges from a sparkling array of colors to the eternal lights of the Aurora.
The designers at CuteCircuit have drawn inspiration from the Roman Goddess, Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights. The dress which was essentially designed for an opera singer and it made its debut in the Breitling event left the audience totally captivated with the hypnotic glow of the Aurora LED dress.
Critics have been very quick to point out that this dress, like the previously designed Galaxy Dress, has no utility in the real world. There will be hardly any takers for such a sparkling dress; in fact, even the most attention seeking woman will think twice before donning this dress. Some have opined that it remains to be seen whether the dress makes it to the real world and even if it does it will be ultra expensive.
However, CuteCircuit must be complemented for such an innovative idea and with this display they have proved, beyond doubt, that they are not a `one dress` wonder.
